Company History
Fish’n’Chick’n was started in 1971 by
Hugh Lipscombe
and Peter Lipscombe. Hugh and Peter purchased their first shop in Harlow this year, which is one of the company’s best performing shops to this day. In 1975 Duncan Lipscombe joined the company and the three brothers had a collective vision which was to grow and build the most successful chain of fish and chip shops in
England
.
We grew from strength to strength through the 80’s and 90’s by offering our customers only the best fish and chips, served by a motivated workforce in a clean and pleasant environment.
In 2004 Peter and Duncan wanted to leave the company to pursue other business interests which left the door open for Hugh to orchestrate a management buyout thus bringing the entire company under his direct control and securing the long term future of the company.
At the same time Hugh made James Lipscombe a Director of the business and
Emma Muir
was promoted to Company Secretary and Finance Manager. Our business has since flourished under Hugh’s leadership becoming the largest independent chain of fish and chip shops in the country.
In 2011 Paul Goodgame was made a company Director in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the company's success throughout his career. The company now operates 31 stores throughout the South & South East of England and we are looking to continue our rapid growth in the coming years.
None of this is made possible without the dedication and passion of our hard working Management teams and Team Members who strive to give their best every day.
